hi just wondering if anyone knows of any vegan cookbooks specifically aimed at kids? there seems to be a couple of vegetarian ones but i cant find any vegan ones.

I have many hairs and they are long.
Since I don't know what to do with my hair it figures that somehow it would look awesome when it's unwashed and it's almost midnight. To mark the occasion of awesome hair (because I can never get it to do this when I want to) I marked the occasion by taking a shitty cell phone picture. I kind of love this picture of me.

I don't think I actually look like this (do I?). It's also interesting that I'm starting to not hate pictures of me the way that I used to. I wonder what's changed. My face hasn't changed, so my perception must have.

I discovered a Penzeys spice shop in town the other day and had heard of it from this community, so I decided to drop in. Needless to say, the employees were super nice, and the selection was incredible (and really not that expensive at all).

Anyway, I could've bought the whole store out, but decided to just go with a small bottle of cinnamon. And what better to do with cinnamon than homemade cinnamon rolls?

I figured I'd use their recipe. It calls for flour--what kind of flour should I use? I have all-purpose flour, cake flour, and bread flour.

Also, I have a big thing of bread that I'm never going to finish. This spells bread pudding. Anyone have a good recipe?

small apartment space planning
I don't know if this is even possible, but hey you don't ask you don't know.

I really need to find a better way to configure furniture in my studio apartment. I was wondering if there is a way I could volunteer my place to a design school or find some way to recruit a design student to help in exchange for examples for their portfolio plus a personal reference. I might be able to do a small fee but my funds are limited.

Tomatoes....
What to do with a lot of them? I am planning on freezing some for sauces later, or lasagna. But I was thinking of making Tomato soup, but there are SO many recipes out there! What is everyones favorite?? I really like creamy soups. These are just regular medium sized tomatoes, probably have about 18 of them.
Any other suggestions?

Curry sauce and Freezing yogurt
I made this curry sauce tonight to have in pita bread. I tasted it when it was done, but it didn't really have much taste, so i added a few spices (can't remember which) but it just did not turn out well at all. Which makes me really sad. I was really excited about it. What would you have done to improve the tempeh and curry a bit? Oh, and I didn't put the onion in. I forgot about it until it was too late.

Tempeh in Curry Sauce

Total servings: 4

Recipe ingredients

400 g tempeh, cut in 2 cm cubes

1 cup soymilk (or milk)

1 tsp butter

1 onion

1/2 tsp cumin

1 tsp curry powder

1 Tbs white flour

1/4 cup fresh peas

4 cups cooked rice

Recipe directions

Steam the tempeh for 10 minutes.

Cook the onions in the butter until soft. Add the flour, cumin and curry and stir. Add slowly the soymilk while stirring. Add the tempeh and peas and boil on low heat for 1 minute.

Serve with rice.

Second, I have been making these wonderful fruit salads for breakfast. I throw some soy yogurt in and some flax seeds and it makes a great start to my day. However, I would like to try something new now. I would love to make them into smoothies for breakfast or lunch (when I have access to a freezer to keep it in during the day). I would also like to make them into smoothies so that I can put some chocolate protein powder into them since I haven't been eating too well lately. Can I still put the yogurt in? Basically, I would be making them at night and sticking them in the freezer overnight. Will the yogurt work with it? I don't know how soy yogurt would behave in the freezer. Or should I just use a little bit of soymilk? I don't have any fruit juices to put in.

hi ppl!

do you have any creative ideas on what can one put in a sushi roll? i usually make it with confiu (or god know how u spell it) avocado, tuna or slamon and tamago. ah and chives. but may be there r other things that will go great with tuna or slamon,,,
see, i'm in need of a special eve since things didnt go so well lately so i really need something good (talk about emotional eating :P ) So, any advice is welcome!

My brother is a newly single father. He also happens to be a vegetarian :)

As a gift, I'd like to compile a cookbook for him with recipes that are easy for a single-working parent and, hopefully, some that are kid-friendly as well. He's got a pretty well-appointed kitchen although I don't believe that he has a crock pot at the moment, I can always rectify that.

Comfort food recipes are especially appreciated :D Thanks!

(My brother is lacto-ovo and the kiddo is 2 years old. No allergies or other restrictions.)

P.S. I asked about comfort food recipes to prepare for him when he visiting about a month ago and, thanks to everyone's advice, I ended up going with Vegetarian Korma and Roasted Vegetable Lasagna. But were delicious!
